One for the road
A
party with a difference! The pre-Holi bash thrown by Prince Singhal
at the poolside courtyard of the Tivoli Garden Resorts was an
attempt to discourage drunken driving. And had the likes of actor
Aftab Shivdasani flying down specially to support the cause!
Prince
had started an NGO called, Say Mocktails, a year ago after the
Jessica Lal murder. And he has been organising events to drive
home the necessity of driving without having alcohol. Meanwhile,
Aftab spoke to the guests present and signed on the bottle —
a tradition followed by all!
As
guests walked in, they penned down their comments first on the
register and then on the graffiti in the foyer. Each person was
supposed to bring along a teetotaller who would drive on the way
back. People were also given badges which read: I am a designated
Driver, I Support Designated Driver Concept and I’m part
of the Mocktail movement!
As
the evening warmed up, guests took to the floor dancing to the
live band. Present at the do were a host of Delhi’s who’s
who — actor Abhinav Chaturvedi, newsreader Suneet Tandon,
painter Subroto Kundu, supercop Maxwell Pereira, fashion designer
Jattin Kochchar, filmmaker Muzaffar Ali’s son Murad Ali
and many others....
There
was also a live thematic performance by country singer Bobby Cash
and a display of the more than one lakh signatures collected by
the group as part of their signature campaign. A sumptuous spread
of Indian and Chinese food completed the evening.
