You seem satisfied with a career well earned. You should let the whole world know that however difficult the task in hand the right attitude matters in fulfilling duties.I am not good in expressing myself but I hope you get the general idea of what I mean. The girls read it with interest and I hope they will be inspired by your outlook and view of life and try and imbibe the same.
    Thanks once again, Estelle Vaz

Dear Maxie, I presume it means this is your last day in office. Perhaps you will be appointed a Guvnor of some state. They will have plenty of states for which the present central govt will be obliged to find governors and since you have a made a reputation for honesty and efficiency in office, they may well think of you. Anyhow God bless you in the days to come and I shall keep you in my prayers. Sincerely, Theo

I am at the moment in Belgium with my daughter en route to the USA to see the other children……
I had a look at your walk down memory lane. Yes, it must be with mixed feelings that you leave the service, as we all do. I have no doubt though that you will continue to be active in one way or the other, and I wish you a happy retirement and all success in your endeavours in future.
I hope we can continue to remain in touch.
    With best wishes, Sincerely, Placido

Dear Maxwell, As I opened my e-mail I found the words "Bidding Adieu...... Yes it was not expected so soon by me. Perhaps I was not aware. I have not gone through the write up yet. I took out a copy but before reading it I thought of acknowledging it. Thank you so much for the same. What next? I am anxious to know it. I hope I will be able to keep in touch with you. rest later after I read the write up. Here I am better but the winter will be bad. Let us see. After all God is there to take care. Hope children are keeping fine. You are always in my prayers.
So I stop for now. Yours sincerely. Sr. Agatha.

Thanks Maxie - this makes very interesting reading. I am sure it was even harder to write especially when there must be so many memories flooding through your mind these days. I heard an nteresting quote recently about retiring "Retirement means you can never take a day off from work anymore" and I think with your varied interests and circle of friends, this could not be more true in your case.
By the way my parents arrived yesterday and my mother will call you shortly. Meanwhile do you have any news regarding the planned trip to Red Fort that we were talking about for this coming week end - if it is not possible please let me know so I will plan something else for them.
    Regards..Denis

My dear Maxwell, I received your Bidding Adieu! So now will be missed in Delhi! Where are you going to be after this. Finding somewhere a quiet place or going to be taking up a suitable time utilising factor. Your Adieu address is straighytforward and showing your grit in those difficult jobs as well as persons whom you encountered in your life and the people who made you who are today. But you have done your Best and we all are proud of you.
Iam going to Mangalore on 4th November and will be there till 19th Nov. Then I proceed to Belgaum for a month's retreat in an Ashram. On 1st Jan 2005. I am in Delhi for some work If you are still in Delhi, I 'll try to meet you Rest in the next. All the Best for the 31st Oct.
Thank you for your friendship and every help. With loving regards. Sr Mary James Monteiro
