"….With all that you have to say, I imagine it is
not easy to say farewell to arms. You have however the satisfaction
of having done very well indeed and it is matter legitimate
pride for us Mangies to have had such person of repute at the
center. May you retirement be an enjoyable one but may you continue
to serve the country and the people in your own way. Irene joins
me in sending our love and good wishes to you. Uncle Joe.

My dear uncle, (I received this mesg from Tubu as well this
afternoon). Although you've written it down so well I did not
enjoy reading it ....I was not happy about your adieu to this
profession. However, retirement from active service is not an
end but a new beginning to a life where you decide and accomplish
all that you've always wanted to but could not due to the busy
work pressure/ schedule. May God shower you dear Uncle with
Gud-health and cheer. And may you make more contributions to
society than ever before. Please remember us. And you will always
stay fresh in my heart because you decorated my wedding picture
as best as only a father can do....Love you
Uncle. Can I have your address which I assume is Gurgoan......Cheers,
Arathi

I can imagine It is hard to put 35 years in just 2 pages. This
must have been hard on you. As you suggested to me, I am suggesting
this to you(You have the talent anyway! )- why dont you start
publishing some really memorable experiences which impacted
you- either personally or professionally. I am sure people would
love reading it. Best of luck. Shashi

Can't believe that you would be retiring. Of course it was also
in today's whispers. The write up is very well done. Thanks
for sharing with me. Would you be coming back to Bangalore or
staying at Delhi (or migrating to UK ?). Bye and best wishes.

Dear Max, Congratulations! Time will pass even when you have
time and everybody else is busy. This the reality of retirement.
What are your long term plans. Keep in touch.
I might be in Delhi at the end of Jan and hope we can have a
leisurely meal. If you are visiting the US you are welcome here.
This is a large country and I am in a rural area and the major
air port is Omaha connected tot the international hubs of Chicago
and, Minneapolis The driving time between Grand Island and Omaha
is two and a quarter hours. I will be happy to buy your airline
ticket to Omaha and drive you from Omaha to GO.I and back.

Congratulations on your retirement !! I know it sounds ironic
but you have put in a lot of energy and work and maybe it is
now time to sit back and enjoy those laurels...
I am sure the first few months are going to be tough. But look
forward to some more writing. You do have a flair for it...
All the best for whatever you endeavour. Tons of good wishes.

And you thought I was young at 40. I was equally surprised to
hear you are at the point of saying Farewell to your career.
It was fun reading all about your police days. Ever thought
of writing a book? God has raised you throughout your career,
and you have been a blessing to each city you have been in,
and to those you have befriended.
A proverb from the Old Testament says " See a man skilled
at his work, and he will serve before kings." Well, there
may not be many kings in our day, but your skill has given you
opportunity to serve before the equivalent in our generation.
What next? More music? Do keep us posted. We would love to be
in touch. Enjoy your family, your friends, some time to yourself
after years of solid work.
Lots of love, Sharmila for all of us Livingstons
